U.S. BancorpU.S. Bancorp raised its quarterly dividend 3.8% to 54 cents after passing the Fed stress test, and still has buyback capacity.

U.S. Bancorp announced a quarterly cash dividend of 54 cents per share, a 3.8% increase from its previous payout, payable Oct. 15, 2026, to shareholders of record as of Sept. 30. The hike follows the company's successful completion of the Federal Reserve's 2026 stress test and marks its sixth dividend increase in five years, after a 4% raise to 52 cents per share in September 2025. Based on yesterday's closing price of $62.11, the dividend yield stands at 3.4%, above the industry average of 2.6%. Beyond dividends, the company still had nearly $3.9 billion available as of June 30, 2026, under a $5 billion share repurchase plan authorized in September 2024, and its common equity Tier 1 capital ratio stood at 10.8% at the end of the second quarter, above management's pro forma target of around 10%. Management expects to increase share repurchases and gradually move toward a 70%-75% payout ratio, while the June 2026 acquisition of BTIG added institutional equity sales and trading, equity capital markets, electronic trading and M&A advisory capabilities.
