The rule sets fixed admission periods: F and J visa holders will be admitted for the length of their specific program, not exceeding four years, while I visas for foreign journalists are capped at 240 days, and for Chinese media the limit is just 90 days. F-1 students will have only 30 days after graduation to prepare for departure, transfer schools, or change status, down from the prior 60-day grace period. Those needing more time must apply for an Extension of Stay through U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, subject to biometric vetting, background checks, and fraud screenings.
