The same month last year saw a surplus of $27 billion. Total tariff refunds reached $49.2 billion, pushing net tariff revenue to a negative $25.6 billion. Total receipts fell 6% year-on-year to $496 billion, while total outlays rose 23% to $616 billion. The cumulative fiscal deficit for the 2026 fiscal year through June reached $1.367 trillion, up 2% from a year earlier.
