Delivery Hero SEDelivery Hero is the target of Uber's continued acquisition pursuit, which could lead to a premium offer.
Uber has paused most of its planned Uber Eats expansion across Europe as it continues efforts to acquire rival Delivery Hero, the Financial Times reported. The company has shelved launches in five of the seven countries it had targeted for 2026, including Austria, Norway and Greece, just five months after announcing the expansion. Uber told the FT the decision followed the huge success of its launches in Finland and Denmark and said it is now focused on building momentum in existing markets. The pause comes as Uber continues to pursue Berlin-based Delivery Hero after its €10 billion takeover proposal was rejected in May, and any renewed bid is expected to face close scrutiny from EU antitrust regulators. The report said the expansion pause could also help ease potential regulatory concerns surrounding a future acquisition.
