Uber Technologies IncQ3 EPS outlook misses estimates, causing shares to fall 4.8%.

Uber Technologies, the U.S. ride-hailing giant, said on the 5th that it plans to invest more than $10 billion in robotaxis over the next several years. Its adjusted earnings per share outlook for the third quarter came in at $0.84 to $0.88, missing the market estimate of $0.89, sending shares down 4.8 percent. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi denied reports that Waymo, a unit of Alphabet, is considering ending their partnership, and said joint operations will continue in Austin, Texas, and Atlanta, Georgia, while expanding alliances with other companies. The bulk of the investment will go toward equity stakes in autonomous driving partners and support for vehicle operations and procurement. Second-quarter gross bookings reached $58.02 billion, beating expectations.
