The August producer price index released by the US Labor Department on the 10th rose 0.4% from the previous month, in line with market expectations. Year-on-year it rose 5.4%, exceeding the expected 5.3% increase. The core index, excluding energy and food, rose 0.2% month-on-month and 4.6% year-on-year. Within the breakdown, energy rose 4.2% from the previous month, with gasoline also up 4.2%. Goods rose 1.1%, while services rose 0.1%.
