S&P Global reported that the preliminary US composite purchasing managers' index, covering both manufacturing and services, rose to 53.6 in July, the highest level in eight months, up from 51.9 in June. The preliminary services PMI climbed to 53.6 in July from 51.2 in June, boosted by the US hosting the World Cup, which led to the first increase in employment in three months and pushed business confidence to an eight-month high. Meanwhile, the preliminary manufacturing PMI edged down to 53.8, a four-month low, from 53.9 in June, but remained above the 50 threshold indicating expansion.
