Summary · why it matters
US-listed exchange-traded funds have absorbed about $1 trillion in inflows this year, reaching the milestone before the end of June and putting the industry on pace to easily break last year's record haul of $1.5 trillion. The flows were led by Vanguard's S&P 500 fund, which has raked in roughly $110 billion year to date, while equity-focused funds constitute the majority of the influx with more than $660 billion. The ETF industry is also on track to see a record number of new funds, with more than 600 products starting trading this year, the fastest pace ever. One of the most eye-catching flow-gatherers has been Roundhill's DRAM fund, which gathered more than $15 billion since its April launch and became the fastest-growing fund by flows.
