Cascale warns that the latest US tariff threat will hit suppliers and workers hardest in the apparel supply chain. The Office of the United States Trade Representative published a report proposing tariffs on all products from 60 countries, including key manufacturing regions China, Vietnam, Bangladesh, and India. Cascale's head of product Katie Hess said restrictive trade measures push cost pressures down to suppliers already operating on tight margins, increasing risks of excessive overtime, unauthorized subcontracting, and other labor-rights concerns. The organization calls for brands and retailers to adopt responsible purchasing practices such as forward planning, fair terms, and consistent communication to help suppliers manage uncertainty and maintain stable operations.
