Scott Bessent, the US Treasury Secretary, said he will call on G20 member countries to review their trade terms with China, arguing that the world should not allow China to run a trade surplus of $1.2 trillion and that countries need to examine their trade conditions with China. His comments come ahead of the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors meeting, which will be held in Asheville, North Carolina, for two days starting today, and before the summit between President Donald Trump and President Xi Jinping next month. The fragile tariff truce between the two countries is set to expire in November unless it is extended.
