Jorge Rodríguez, president of Venezuela's National Assembly, announced that the death toll from the June 24 earthquake has risen to 5,208, with 16,740 injured and 6,462 people rescued from the rubble. No official figure has been released for the missing, but the opposition estimates the number could be as high as nearly 30,000. Acting President Delcy Rodríguez convened an economic task force to expedite recovery plans for the affected areas across seven states, covering infrastructure repairs, housing construction, and restoration of public utilities. In addition, the government has gained access to initial funding of 346 million dollars from the country's resources held with the International Monetary Fund to support recovery and reconstruction efforts in the disaster zones.
