Wells Fargo shares have gained 20.5% over the past three months, outpacing the industry's 16.1% growth. The Federal Reserve lifted the asset cap imposed in 2018 following the fake account scandal, allowing the bank to expand deposits, loans, and securities holdings. Average loans increased 10.8% year over year to $1.01 trillion, while average deposits rose 7.9% to $1.44 trillion in the first half of 2026. Management expects 2026 net interest income of approximately $50 billion, up from $47.5 billion in 2025, and a medium-term return on tangible common equity target of 17-18%. Wells Fargo raised its quarterly dividend by 11% in July 2026 to 50 cents per share and had approximately $22.7 billion remaining for common stock repurchases as of June 30, 2026.
