Zillow Group Inc Class CZillow faces a class-action lawsuit alleging it misled shareholders about the Redfin deal, which regulators claim is anticompetitive.

Zillow is facing a class-action lawsuit from investor Matt Breidert, who alleges the company misled shareholders about its February 2025 deal with Redfin. The complaint, filed June 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, claims Zillow portrayed the arrangement as a partnership when it was actually an anticompetitive acquisition that exposed the company to heightened regulatory risk. Breidert says he purchased Zillow stock at artificially inflated prices and seeks damages on behalf of investors who bought class A or class C common stock between February 11, 2025, and May 7, 2026. The suit follows actions by the Federal Trade Commission and five state attorneys general, who alleged the $100 million deal eliminated Redfin as a competitor in the multifamily rental advertising market. A Zillow spokesperson said the partnership is pro-competitive and the company will vigorously defend against the allegations.
