Zoetis has launched Lenivia, a long-acting monoclonal antibody therapy for canine osteoarthritis pain, in Canada and the European Union. The injection provides up to three months of pain relief with a single subcutaneous dose, targeting nerve growth factor at a different binding site than existing anti-NGF therapies. Up to 40% of dogs may have radiographic osteoarthritis, and the chronic condition erodes mobility, sleep, and social behavior, creating a need for convenient, sustained pain management. Lenivia demonstrated reduced pain as early as Day 7 in a nine-month European field study and joins Zoetis' established osteoarthritis portfolio, which includes Rimadyl, Trocoxil, and Librela. The company says the longer dosing interval can improve compliance and free up veterinary practice capacity.
