Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd. has received an Outstanding Flagship Product Award at its Seventh Science and Technology Innovation Conference for a 21-ton crawler hydraulic excavator designed specifically for the extreme heat, dust, and prolonged breaker operations common in the Middle East. The excavator was developed by a team led by Wu Baoshuo, deputy director of the Medium and Large Excavator Research Institute at Zoomlion Earthmoving Machinery Company, to handle temperatures exceeding 50 degrees Celsius and hydraulic breaker work that can account for more than 70% of operating time. Engineers redesigned the airflow layout, optimized the cooling core, strengthened structural components, and enhanced dust protection through improved air intake and cab sealing. The team validated improvements through on-site testing at customer worksites in the Middle East, collecting sensor data and completing thousands of breaker cycles, while Zoomlion's headquarters testing center supported three months of high-frequency breaker durability testing. Wu noted that the award recognizes years of customer-focused engineering and that the team will continue learning from the jobsite to build reliable equipment.
