Hochtief to Acquire German Power Transmission Firm Autmatec

Hochtief has agreed to acquire Autmatec, a German specialist in transmission line infrastructure, in a deal aimed at expanding its energy infrastructure business. The transaction, subject to approval by the German Federal Cartel Office, will add Autmatec's expertise in overhead transmission lines, which generated approximately €50 million ($57.8 million) in revenue in 2026 with about 80 employees. Hochtief CEO Juan Santamaría said the acquisition aligns with its strategy to invest in high-growth infrastructure markets driven by long-term demand for grid modernization and energy security. The company expects Autmatec to complement its existing infrastructure and engineering operations, enabling a more integrated approach to transmission projects across Germany and Europe. Autmatec's leadership team will remain in place after the deal, and Hochtief highlighted its doubled German order book and opportunities from the government's €500 billion infrastructure plan.
