DP World to Build €48 Million Cold Chain Hub in Antwerp
DP World will build a new temperature-controlled logistics hub in the Port of Antwerp with an initial investment of €48 million, part of a long-term investment totaling approximately €100 million. The facility, developed in partnership with Montea and Maatschappij Linkerscheldeoever, will occupy an 83,000 square meter site adjacent to DP World's Antwerp Gateway terminal and combine more than 55,000 square meters of specialized warehousing with direct access to terminal and multimodal transport operations. Around half of the warehouse capacity will be dedicated to perishables, including bananas and other fresh produce, while the rest will support healthcare, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and technology sectors with multiple temperature-controlled storage and value-added services. Construction is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2027, subject to permitting, with completion anticipated in the second quarter of 2028, and the warehouse is being designed to achieve BREEAM Excellent certification.
