It also provides investment and pension funds; reinsurance services; insurance for businesses; and business multirisk insurance. The company serves its products to companies, small, medium, and large corporations, as well as to professionals, entrepreneurs, the self-employed, and small businesses. The company was formerly known as Corporacion Mapfre and changed its name to Mapfre, S.A. in December 2006. Mapfre, S.A. was founded in 1933 and is based in Majadahonda, Spain. Mapfre, S.A. operates as a subsidiary of Cartera Mapfre, S.L.

Mapfre to acquire 38.9% stake in Spanish insurtech Tuio

Mapfre has agreed to acquire a 38.9% stake in Tuio, a Spanish digital insurance distributor, through a share purchase and participation in a capital increase. The financial terms were not disclosed, and the deal remains subject to regulatory approvals. Tuio, founded in 2021 and currently operating only in Spain, plans to use the investment to fund international expansion into Europe and Latin America starting next year, regions where Mapfre already has a presence. Mapfre said Tuio was the first insurtech to fully integrate into ChatGPT, which now generates more than 20% of its new clients, and that the investment would accelerate technological development and support expansion.

Mapfre first-half net result rises 8.4% to 646.2 million euros

Mapfre reported a first-half net result of 646.2 million euros, an increase of 8.4% from the prior year. Insurance revenue rose 3.5% to 13.62 billion euros. Safety Insurance to Be Acquired by Mapfre for $1.54 Billion
