SK bioscience launches AI-powered ROTOR project to reduce vaccine-development uncertainty
SK bioscience will lead the Gates Foundation-funded ROTOR project, establishing a global collaboration framework with PATH, Slalom, and SK AX to develop an AI-powered platform for evidence-based clinical development decision-making. The platform will analyze clinical, immunogenicity, and scientific datasets to support R&D decisions and optimize strategies, initially validated using rotavirus vaccine data from SK bioscience and PATH. It aims to strengthen R&D capabilities in low- and middle-income countries and expand global vaccine access, with reusable components for broader adoption. The initiative addresses the challenge of advancing to large-scale Phase III trials when immune correlates of protection are limited, potentially improving development efficiency. SK bioscience has a track record of collaborations with WHO, CEPI, and others, and recently signed a licensing agreement with the CDC for an injectable rotavirus vaccine.
