JFTC Recommends Action Against Toridoll for Improper Payment Reductions

On the 9th, the Fair Trade Commission issued a recommendation to Toridoll Holdings, which operates Marugame Seimen and Konaz Coffee, for violating the Subcontract Act by improperly reducing payments to subcontractors. From August 2024 to July this year, Toridoll reduced payments to 37 subcontractors by 1.1% under the guise of a "system usage fee," with improper reductions totaling approximately 147 million yen as of the end of last year.

Toridoll Holdings first-quarter operating profit falls 34.3%, but overseas business posts record profit

Toridoll Holdings announced its first-quarter results for the fiscal year ending March 2027. Revenue reached 72.318 billion yen, a record high for a first quarter, but operating profit fell 34.3% year on year to 5.294 billion yen, weighed down by higher labor costs and expenses related to restructuring overseas subsidiaries. In the Marugame Seimen segment, revenue came to 36.509 billion yen, also a record high, but business profit declined 16.0%. The domestic other segment posted record revenue of 10.462 billion yen, while business profit fell 15.0%. Meanwhile, the overseas business segment achieved record first-quarter results, with revenue of 25.346 billion yen and business profit of 1.853 billion yen, driven by strong performance at Tam Jai in Hong Kong and Marugame Udon in Taiwan and the United States. Full-year forecasts were left unchanged, with revenue of 287 billion yen, operating profit of 17 billion yen, and net profit of 7 billion yen. The dividend forecast also remains unchanged at 12 yen per share for the year.
