Par Pacific Holdings' Hawaii Renewables facility produced on-specification renewable diesel in April 2026 and completed its first commercial sales, marking a key operational milestone for the company's long-term growth. The facility is designed to produce 61 million gallons of renewable diesel, sustainable aviation fuel, and renewable naphtha annually, with flexibility to produce up to 60% SAF or 90% renewable diesel. Production ramped during the second quarter, with June throughput reaching approximately 3,000 barrels per day before a plant-wide turnaround. The joint venture with Mitsubishi Corporation and ENEOS Corporation contributed $100 million for a 36.5% interest, providing feedstock-sourcing and customer-access capabilities across Asia-Pacific and California. Par Pacific has not yet provided mid-cycle earnings guidance for Renewables as commissioning and ramp-up continue.

The consolidated earnings for the April–June 2026 quarter are in for Japan's three major oil refiners, and all three posted substantial net profits. The effective blockade of the Strait of Hormuz following the Middle East conflict that began in late February pushed up crude oil prices at the time of sale compared with procurement, boosting profits, and also generated inventory valuation gains. ENEOS Holdings and Cosmo Energy Holdings swung from net losses a year earlier to large net profits, while Idemitsu Kosan's net profit surged eightfold year on year.

ENEOS Holdings announced consolidated net profit of 41.49 billion yen for the April–June quarter of 2026. In the same period a year earlier, it posted a loss of 14.5 billion yen. Operating profit rose 9.5 times year-on-year to 48.25 billion yen, driven by improvements in the petroleum products business thanks to the resolution of refinery troubles and higher overseas market conditions. The full-year consolidated net profit forecast was kept unchanged at the previous estimate of 41.5 billion yen, while the average estimate of seven analysts stood at 38.11 billion yen. The company also announced it will acquire US chemical maker TPC Holdings. The acquisition price was not disclosed, but it said the deal would make it the world's third-largest producer of the basic chemical butadiene.

TPC Group has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by ENEOS Holdings, Inc. ENEOS will acquire TPC Group’s petrochemical operations in Houston, Texas, along with terminal operations in Port Neches, Texas, and Lake Charles, Louisiana. The transaction is expected to strengthen ENEOS Group’s competitiveness in the petrochemical C4 value chain and expand its U.S. operations, aligning with its Fourth Medium-Term Management Plan. TPC Group President and CEO Ed Dineen called the deal a strong endorsement of the company’s people and capabilities. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals, with closing expected in October 2026.

NVIDIA announced that leading Japanese enterprises, startups, and research institutions are building industry-specialized AI models and applications with NVIDIA Nemotron open models, data, and libraries. The Institute of Science Tokyo developed its Swallow family of open foundation models using NVIDIA Nemotron datasets and the NVIDIA NeMo software stack, enhancing Japanese language and reasoning performance. SoftBank Corp.'s SB Intuitions trained its Sarashina series of generative AI models using NVIDIA Nemotron, with Sarashina3 mini selected by Japan's Digital Agency for specialized use cases. Stockmark released a specialized Japanese-language document-understanding model based on the NVIDIA Nemotron 3 Nano Omni model. Japanese enterprises including avatarin, ENEOS Holdings, Hitachi, and NTT DATA are building Japanese-language AI applications with NVIDIA Nemotron for remote-presence robotics, enterprise agents, and specialized medical and contact centers. Sakana AI is integrating NVIDIA Nemotron into its Fugu model-routing platform to dynamically select the best model for each task in agentic AI workflows.
