Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway surpasses 2.3 billion passenger trips in 15 years, sets new profit record for third consecutive year

Since entering operation on June 30, 2011, the Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway has run over 2.22 million train services and carried more than 2.3 billion passenger trips over 15 years. In 2025, passenger volume reached 238 million trips, with daily train services rising from 131 in 2011 to 597. Operating revenue came to 43.062 billion yuan, up 2.15 percent year on year, while net profit attributable to shareholders of the listed company was 13.172 billion yuan, an increase of 3.16 percent, marking a third consecutive year of record results. China State Railway Group said that as the first high-speed rail enterprise in China to turn a profit and list on the A-share market, the Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway has provided replicable development experience for the entire industry through market-based capacity allocation, a differentiated dynamic ticket pricing mechanism, and lean, efficient operations management. From January 26, 2026, the line's flagship services will be expanded again, with 87 trains running at 350 kilometers per hour across the route, 21 more than before, and a seven-tier floating fare scheme will be introduced. Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway Company expects 2026 to mark a new phase of high-quality growth driven by structural optimization, with a profit outlook that is both certain and sustainable.
