Penghua STAR 100 ETF surges over 3.1%, AI drives semiconductor materials demand growth
The Penghua STAR 100 ETF rose 3.18% in morning trading to 1.65 yuan, tracking the SSE STAR 100 Index which jumped 3.13%. In news, China Shipbuilding Industry Group Special Gas noted that tungsten hexafluoride, a key consumable for memory chips, is expected to see rapid demand growth driven by AI. GlobalWafers said its semiconductor silicon wafer production lines are almost fully loaded and it is negotiating new long-term agreements with multiple customers. China Securities analysts noted that benefiting from AI computing demand, major players like TSMC, Micron, and Samsung have expansion plans extending beyond 2030, with cleanroom capacity becoming a bottleneck, and domestic equipment is filling the global gap with delivery efficiency and cost advantages. Among constituents, China Shipbuilding Industry Group Special Gas rose 11.24%, Grinm Advanced Materials rose 10.95%, and Puya Semiconductor rose 9.14%.
