Ameris Bancorp Faces Tepid Growth, Analysts Recommend Industrials Stock Instead

Ameris Bancorp shares have risen 14.2% over the past six months to $90.20, outperforming the S&P 500 by 5.2%, but analysts at StockStory advise avoiding the stock due to sluggish fundamentals. Net interest income grew at a 7.9% annualized rate over the last five years, lagging the broader banking industry, and is projected to rise only 6.4% in the next 12 months. Earnings per share expanded at a 3.1% compound annual growth rate over five years, outpacing revenue growth of 1.1% but still signaling limited momentum. The stock trades at 1.4 times forward price-to-book, which the analysts view as fair but offering insufficient upside relative to downside risk. They recommend instead a safe-and-steady industrials business benefiting from an upgrade cycle.
