ABN Amro raises full-year outlook after better-than-expected second quarter

Dutch banking group ABN Amro has raised its 2026 commercial net interest income forecast to 6.8 billion euros from a previous 6.4 billion euros. The upgrade follows second-quarter net interest income of 1.7 billion euros, beating analyst expectations of 1.64 billion euros. The bank pointed to the resilience of the Dutch economy and expects an additional rate hike in September. Its cost-to-income ratio stood at 53.7 percent at the end of June, improving from 61.5 percent a year earlier and already below its 2028 target of under 55 percent.

Ten European Financial Institutions Launch Co-Owned Blockchain RL1, Visa Expands Stablecoin Infrastructure

A consortium of ten European financial institutions has officially launched Regulated Layer One, or RL1, a co-owned blockchain network for the regulated tokenized asset market. Founding members include ABN AMRO, SEB, Chartered Investment, Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale, DekaBank, DZ Bank, LBBW, Natixis CIB, SC Ventures, and Securion, with all member institutions holding equal voting rights under a cooperative governance structure. RL1 is built on infrastructure developed by German fintech company SWIAT and has already processed over 50 institutional transactions totaling more than 700 million euros. Meanwhile, Visa is expanding its stablecoin infrastructure as third-quarter net revenue rose 14 percent year-on-year to 11.6 billion dollars. The company announced its participation in the Open Standard consortium, which plans to issue Open USD, and the launch of the Visa Stablecoin Platform for financial institutions.

Pure DC Secures €1.3 Billion for Phase 1 of Finland AI Campus

Pure Data Centres Group has secured €1.3 billion in committed senior debt for Phase 1 of its Seinäjoki AI campus in Finland, bringing total financing raised over the past 12 months to more than $4.2 billion. The senior project financing was provided by five mandated lead arrangers—SMBC, ABN AMRO, Citi, Societe Generale, and Natixis CIB—with three of those lenders joining the group during the six-week execution process. Phase 1 of the campus involves a €1.5 billion investment for a 110-megawatt AI facility that is already fully leased, while the full site is capable of scaling to a more than €7.5 billion, 550-megawatt-plus campus. The latest round follows a $2.7 billion financing package announced in May, which included a $2.15 billion facility backed by Pure DC’s Dublin and Amsterdam campuses and an increase in corporate-level financing to $550 million.

Touax Container renews investment capacity with $115 million financing

Touax has successfully renewed the asset-backed facilities of its Containers division for $115 million on 30 June 2026. The transaction refinances the asset portfolio of Touax Container Asset Financing Ltd over four years and finances new investment, including equipment purchases for leasing and trading activity. The documentation also provides for an additional $20 million accordion option to support growth. Financing was granted by ING Bank, ABN AMRO Bank, and HELABA Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen. Touax expects containerised traffic to increase by 2% to 4% in 2026, with a recovery in leasing demand in the second half of the year.
