Aehr Test Systems Stock Soars 72% in a Month

Aehr Test Systems shares have surged 72.2% over the past month, far outpacing the broader industry's 7.4% gain and the S&P 500's 2.9% rise. The rally follows record fourth-quarter fiscal 2026 bookings of $60.7 million and an effective backlog of about $100.6 million, which boosted confidence in demand for its semiconductor test and burn-in systems used in AI processors, silicon photonics, and power devices. For fiscal 2027, the Zacks Consensus Estimate projects EPS of 70 cents, up sharply from 3 cents a year ago, with revenues expected to reach $140.20 million, a 180.4% increase. The company also received a follow-on production order from its lead silicon photonics customer for a fully automated FOX-XP multi-wafer burn-in system, scheduled to ship in the first half of 2027. Small-Cap ETF Could Be the Best Investment of 2026 as Russell 2000 Surges 20%

Small-cap stocks were the best-performing asset class in the first half of 2026, with the Russell 2000 index up 20% year to date, outperforming the S&P 500, Nasdaq, S&P 400 mid-cap index, and Russell 1000. Over the past 12 months, the Russell 2000 has returned 35%, compared to 27% for the Nasdaq and 20% for the S&P 500. The surge is driven by a rotation out of overvalued large-caps, an expanding AI supply chain benefiting small-cap semiconductor stocks like Aehr Test Systems, MaxLinear, Navitas, and Wolfspeed, a robust mergers and acquisitions market, and small-cap earnings expected to grow 38% to 48% in 2026, roughly double the S&P 500's rate. While declining rates have helped, potential Federal Reserve rate hikes and inherent volatility pose risks, making a small-cap ETF a prudent choice. An actively managed option like the Fidelity Enhanced Small-Cap Core ETF, up 26% year to date, offers diversified exposure.

Prosper Stars & Stripes Covered Its Short Position in Aehr Test Systems

Prosper Stars & Stripes, a long/short equity fund, covered its short position in Aehr Test Systems during the first quarter of 2026. The fund cited Aehr as the largest detractor in its short book for the quarter, noting that the company's wafer-level test and burn-in equipment remains a niche solution with limited adoption. Aehr's revenue fell 11% year-over-year to approximately $59 million in fiscal 2025, and consensus estimates point to a further 17% decline to roughly $50 million in fiscal 2026. The fund highlighted significant customer concentration, with ON Semiconductor accounting for about 80% of revenue, and a narrow use case focused on silicon carbide devices for electric vehicles. Despite management's emphasis on growth opportunities in AI and silicon photonics, Prosper Stars & Stripes concluded that Aehr's business reality is weaker than its high multiples imply, but covered the position in adherence to its risk management discipline.

Aehr Test Systems Stock Spikes on New Production Order

Aehr Test Systems shares experienced a sharp upward move following the announcement of a new production order, reflecting growing confidence in the company's positioning within the semiconductor test equipment market. The order arrives amid unprecedented demand driven by artificial intelligence infrastructure buildout and the reshoring of chip manufacturing to the United States, with hyperscale technology companies projected to spend about $755 billion on AI-related capital expenditures in 2026. Aehr's order likely reflects expanding need for wafer-level burn-in and test solutions as chipmakers ramp production of silicon carbide, gallium nitride, and other advanced semiconductor materials. The new order extends backlog visibility, supports stronger utilization of manufacturing capacity, and reinforces expectations for revenue and margin expansion. Despite the positive commercial validation, Wall Street sees AEHR shares as overvalued, with a consensus rating of Moderate Buy and a mean price target of nearly $64 signaling potential downside of more than 40% from current levels.
