argenx Surges 11.5% After Positive Phase 3 Myositis Data

argenx reported that its ALKIVIA Phase 3 trial of VYVGART Hytrulo in adults with autoimmune myositis met its primary endpoint, with patients showing statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvements in Total Improvement Score over 52 weeks versus placebo and a safety profile consistent with prior studies. This is the first Phase 3 study to show such benefit in immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy, a subtype with no approved targeted therapies, underscoring the potential for VYVGART Hytrulo to address a substantial unmet need across a broad, heterogenous myositis population. The company's narrative projects $9.7 billion revenue and $3.5 billion earnings by 2029, requiring 22.3% yearly revenue growth and about a $1.8 billion earnings increase from $1.7 billion today. Some analysts were already expecting argenx to reach about US$11,000,000,000 in revenue and US$4,500,000,000 in earnings by 2029, so this myositis result may strengthen that more optimistic view or prompt others to reassess how product concentration and future pricing pressure could reshape those forecasts.

Patients treated with efgartigimod showed a 15.4-point greater improvement versus placebo, with benefits emerging by Week 4 and sustained through the full year even with steroid tapering. In prespecified subtype analyses, the primary endpoint was also met in immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy patients with a 14.8-point greater improvement, while dermatomyositis patients showed a clinically meaningful 14.5-point improvement that did not reach statistical significance in the smaller cohort. The safety profile was consistent with prior studies, and detailed results will be presented at an upcoming medical meeting.

Forte Biosciences agrees to acquisition by argenx via cash tender offer

argenx SE has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Forte Biosciences through a cash tender offer, with both boards approving the transaction. The deal is expected to close soon, subject to customary conditions, and will result in a change of control for Forte Biosciences, with all remaining shares acquired after completion of the tender. Forte Biosciences shares most recently closed at $76.65, reflecting a very large one-year return of more than seven times its earlier level and a 30-day return of 264.5% amid intense market focus on the acquisition.
