About $500K Stolen from Card Balances at Avici and Tria, Rain Promises Full Reimbursement
Rain, which provides the infrastructure for issuing stablecoin-backed cards for crypto neobanks, suffered an attack on its contracts on the 28th, leading to funds being drained from the card balances of its partners. The affected parties were identified as Avici and Tria, which offer card services on Solana. Rain has completed updates to the affected contracts and halted the attack. Avici disclosed that $500,859.22 was stolen from the card balances of 1,685 users, and stated that self-custody Solana and EVM wallets were unaffected. Tria stated that Ethereum EVM assets on card balances are safe. Avici has filed a report with the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center. Rain, Avici, and Tria have all pledged full reimbursement to victims, but specific refund timelines and responsible parties have not yet been disclosed.
