Braskem S.A. manufactures, sells, imports, and exports chemicals, petrochemicals, and fuels in Brazil. It also supplies electricity and inputs to second-generation producers, sells utilities such as steam, water, compressed air, and industrial gases, and provides industrial services. The company produces and sells polyethylene (including green PE from renewable resources), polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride, caustic soda, thermoplastic resins, and other basic petrochemicals. It operates in the United States, Europe, Asia, and internationally. Formerly known as Copene Petroquímica do Nordeste S.A., it changed its name to Braskem S.A. in 2002. Founded in 1972, it is headquartered in São Paulo, Brazil.
