Cumberland Pharmaceuticals declares $1.50 per share special dividend and projects over 5 years of operating runway

Cumberland Pharmaceuticals declared a special dividend of $1.50 per share, totaling $22 million, following the close of its strategic transaction with Apotex Health. The company received $100 million in cash at closing, with an additional $11 million due for inventory and transition payments and a potential $10 million milestone payment, resulting in estimated net proceeds of $111 million. CFO John Hamm stated that remaining cash is projected to fund operations for over five years, with over $50 million in additional reserves for unexpected expenses or special opportunities. The company has reclassified revenue and expenses from its commercial brands as discontinued operations and will now focus on developing its ifetroban portfolio, with multiple clinical milestones expected in 2026 across DMD, systemic sclerosis, and IPF. Cumberland reported a net loss of $4.1 million for the second quarter and ended the period with total assets of $63 million, including approximately $4 million in cash and equivalents, after retiring its $5.2 million bank line of credit.
