Madison Small Cap Fund Highlights Extreme Networks in Q2 2026 Investor Letter

Madison Small Cap Fund highlighted Extreme Networks in its Q2 2026 investor letter, citing the company's pivot to a cloud-managed, software-defined platform and a 'specification moat' that creates high customer stickiness. The fund noted that Extreme Networks, which closed at $29.76 per share on July 16, 2026 with a market capitalization of $3.93 billion, is gaining market share from larger incumbents like Cisco and Juniper, and sees the transition to Wi-Fi 7 as a catalyst for higher attach rates of its cloud-management software. Madison Small Cap Fund estimates an intrinsic value of $40 per share for the stock. The fund's Q2 2026 update also reported that the Madison Small Cap Fund (Class I) returned 12.7% in the quarter, underperforming the Russell 2000's 21.5% return.

UBS previews data center demand for Arista, Celestica, Extreme, Lumentum

UBS previewed data center demand for Arista Networks, Celestica, Extreme Networks, and Lumentum ahead of the upcoming earnings period. Analyst David Vogt noted that an acceleration in data center infrastructure investments over the past three months should drive strong demand and backlog, though increasing lead times for key components like networking silicon and indium phosphide could temper revenue upside. For Arista, deepening hyperscaler relationships are expected to push revenue and earnings above estimates, with a CY26 revenue growth guide increase to 33% from 27.5%. Celestica's supply chain headwinds have been remediated, and robust ethernet switch demand at Meta and Amazon could drive revenue 3% to 4% above the forecast to roughly $4.5 billion, with potential EPS upside of about 5% to $2.40. Extreme Networks is seeing solid wired and wireless demand that may push revenue toward the high end of guidance around $335 million, with EPS a few pennies above the $0.29 estimate. Lumentum is ramping optical circuit switch revenue and seeing strength in 200G and lane EMLs, which should drive revenue above $1 billion, though supply constraints may limit order conversion, with diluted EPS expected 3% to 4% above the $3.00 estimate.

Extreme Unveils Industry’s First Multi-Beam Wi-Fi Solution for Large Venues

Extreme Networks has introduced Extreme Multi-Beam Wireless, the industry’s first 16-sector directional antenna system for stadium connectivity, through a strategic partnership with MatSing. The solution combines MatSing’s lens antenna technology with sixteen Extreme AP5022FX Wi-Fi 7 access points in a one-to-one AP-to-sector architecture, dividing a stadium bowl into 16 independently serviced RF sectors for targeted overhead coverage and predictable RF boundaries. It helps increase capacity, support more devices and higher bandwidth demands with less infrastructure, and extends high-performance coverage into hard-to-reach areas. The Tennessee Titans will be the first to deploy the solution at Nissan Stadium, opening in spring 2027. Extreme Multi-Beam Wireless will be available in the fourth quarter of 2026.
