Fresnillo plc mines, develops, and produces non-ferrous minerals in Mexico. It operates through seven segments: Fresnillo, Saucito, Ciénega, Herradura, Noche Buena, San Julián, and Juanicipio. The company primarily explores for silver, gold, lead, and zinc concentrates. Its projects include the Fresnillo silver mine located in the state of Zacatecas; Saucito mine situated in the state of Zacatecas; Ciénega mine located in the state of Durango; Herradura mine located in the state of Sonora; Noche Buena mine located in the state of Sonora; San Julián mine situated on the border of Chihuahua/Durango states; and Juanicipio mine located in the state of Zacatecas. The company also leases mining equipment; produces lead, silver and zinc concentrates and silver precipitates; produces gold/silver doré bars; mines projects; and provides exploration and administrative services. Fresnillo first-half profit surges 227.6% on higher precious metals prices

Fresnillo reported a 227.6 percent jump in first-half profit from continuing operations before income tax to $2.16 billion, driven by sharply higher silver and gold prices. Revenues surged 74.7 percent to $3.38 billion, with the average realised silver price more than doubling to $78.9 per ounce and the average realised gold price climbing 47.3 percent to $4,666.8 per ounce. The company declared an increased interim dividend of 43.4 US cents per share and confirmed its full-year production guidance, while noting that attributable silver production fell 11.4 percent and attributable gold production declined 7.3 percent. For fiscal 2026, Fresnillo continues to expect attributable silver production of 42.0 to 46.5 million ounces and attributable gold production of 500,000 to 550,000 ounces, with production outlook for 2027 and 2028 also unchanged.

London stocks mixed amid weak tech but FTSE 100 edges up

London's FTSE 100 edged up 0.1% to close at 10,665.88 on Tuesday, outperforming European and US peers despite fresh falls among technology stocks and renewed Middle East tension. The FTSE 250 ended down 0.5% at 23,378.82, while the AIM All-Share fell 1.2% to 769.18. Tech weakness followed a 6.9% drop in Samsung Electronics despite a bumper profit forecast, with analysts warning about the sustainability of chip earnings. Oil prices rose after an oil tanker was struck by an unidentified projectile near the Strait of Hormuz, with Brent crude trading at 73.88 dollars a barrel. Shell rose 3.4% on the higher oil price and after nudging up second-quarter integrated gas production guidance, while mining stocks weighed on the FTSE 100, with Anglo American down 4.6% and Fresnillo down 4.5%.

FTSE 100 dips as miners and AstraZeneca weigh

The FTSE 100 closed down 0.3% on Monday, pressured by declines in gold miners and AstraZeneca alongside soft UK construction data. Sinda to Begin Trading on NYSE

Sinda Ltd., a silver exploration company with mineral projects in Mexico, will begin trading today on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol SIND. The company is advancing a large-scale, high-grade silver-gold discovery in the historic Guanajuato district, with an estimated 369 million silver-equivalent ounces of Inferred Mineral Resources and 16 million silver-equivalent ounces of Indicated Mineral Resources at an average grade of 692 silver-equivalent grams per tonne. Coinciding with the initial public offering, Fresnillo plc is subscribing for up to 5% of Sinda's outstanding shares in a private placement, while Franco-Nevada is participating as an anchor investor with a $10 million order. Net proceeds from the offering will fund a multi-year exploration and infill drilling program, including construction of a 9-kilometer underground exploration decline at the Caracol deposit, with the objective of achieving initial production by 2031. Sinda will ring the NYSE Opening Bell on July 2, 2026 to celebrate its listing.

FTSE 100 falls over 1% as Bank of England holds rate at 3.75%

The FTSE 100 dropped more than 1% on Thursday as the Bank of England held its key interest rate at 3.75%. The benchmark index was down 108.98 points, or 1.04%, at 10,399.63, with energy and mining stocks leading the decline. The Monetary Policy Committee voted 7-2 to keep the bank rate unchanged, noting that inflation eased to 2.8% in May but is expected to rise later this year. Miners Fresnillo and Endeavour Mining lost 5.5% and 4% respectively, while BP and Shell fell around 1.6% and 1.7%. FirstGroup shares jumped 7% after the transport operator reported solid annual results and announced a new £100 million share buyback.
