K Wave Media names Joongjae Lee chairman and Richard Kim co-CEO ahead of Nexus rebrand
K Wave Media Ltd. appointed Joongjae Lee as chairman and Richard Kim as co-chief executive officer alongside current CEO Ted Kim, effective immediately, as the company prepares to rebrand to NEXUS Advanced Technologies Inc. and pursues acquisitions in technology-focused industries. Lee is also CEO of Rabbit Walk Co., Ltd., a Korea-based AI content producer in which K Wave Media acquired a majority stake during 2026. Richard Kim brings around 30 years of experience in corporate finance and cross-border M&A, including semiconductor transactions and senior roles at KOSPI- and KOSDAQ-listed businesses. Crypto Treasury Firms Pivot to AI as Investor Demand Collapses
A growing number of digital-asset treasury companies are pivoting to artificial intelligence businesses in an effort to regain investor interest, but the strategy has largely failed to halt steep share-price declines. K Wave Media Ltd., a former Bitcoin accumulator that shifted to data center development, has fallen 71% since rebooting in May; Lixte Biotechnology Holdings Inc. dropped 33% since agreeing to merge with a battery firm in June; and AlphaTON Capital Corp., which held alternative cryptocurrencies, has declined 33% since rebranding as Alpha Compute Corp. in April. These firms are among at least a dozen DATs that have turned to AI-related ventures amid a crypto slump that has seen Bitcoin fall 49% from its October 2024 peak and US and Canadian DAT stocks post a median decline of 43% this year. Law firms that previously handled private placements for DATs report a complete halt in such deals since October, with companies now seeking opportunities in data centers, space exploration, and small nuclear reactors. While some Bitcoin miners like CoreWeave, Hut 8, Iren, and TeraWulf have seen better results retooling for AI, the broader pivot has not reversed the exodus from the crypto treasury model.

K Wave Media wins Nasdaq Capital Market listing, strengthens balance sheet, and targets AI acquisitions
K Wave Media has received Nasdaq approval to transfer its listing to the Nasdaq Capital Market and gained an additional 180-day compliance period through January 4, 2027, to meet the minimum $1.00 bid price requirement. The company’s ordinary shares are expected to begin trading on the Nasdaq Capital Market on July 21, 2026. The move follows a series of corporate actions that materially strengthened its financial position, including shareholder approval of a reverse stock split authorization and ratification of the disposition of subsidiary Play Company Co., Ltd. As a result, shareholders’ equity improved from a deficit to approximately US$22 million, total liabilities were reduced by roughly 77%, and the company believes it has resolved a prior shareholders’ equity deficiency. CEO Ted Kim stated that the company is now focused on pursuing acquisition and investment opportunities in the AI ecosystem, including AI software, AI infrastructure, data center infrastructure, AI-enabled enterprise solutions, and AI content-producing platforms.
