PureCycle Technologies and IPL Schoeller have developed a polypropylene container for Cleveland Kitchen that incorporates 25% post-consumer recycled content and will reach store shelves this month. The 24-ounce tub and lid mark the first time a food-contact grocery container made with PureCycle's PureFive resin has entered full commercial production. The resin is produced through a dissolution recycling process that removes colors, odors, and impurities, and it meets FDA food-contact requirements. The launch helps Cleveland Kitchen comply with emerging recycled-content mandates in states such as New Jersey and California, where New Jersey's law currently requires 10% post-consumer recycled content in rigid plastic containers, rising to 20% in 2027. PureCycle and IPL Schoeller plan to expand their collaboration to introduce PureFive resin into other packaging offerings.
