Klim and Research Frontiers Enter Into Licensing Agreement for SPD-SmartGlass Technology

Klim and Research Frontiers have entered into a licensing and product development collaboration to bring next-generation SPD-SmartGlass technology to motorcycle helmets, goggles, visors, face shields and related rider products. SPD-SmartGlass light control technology allows users to instantly adjust light, heat and glare at the touch of a button or automatically with sensors, and has already been used in luxury automobiles such as Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren and Cadillac, as well as aircraft, marine vessels and architectural installations. Joseph M. Harary, President and CEO of Research Frontiers, said the collaboration opens new opportunities for SPD technology in a global market of tens of millions of riders and outdoor enthusiasts who encounter changing light conditions daily. The companies aim to create what they believe could become an entirely new category of smart wearable vision systems.
