Aerospace and defense sector outlook shaped by engine supply and production ramp targets

Global defense and aerospace production is accelerating, with engine supply chains, long-term service contracts, and airframe ramp targets shaping the near-term outlook for companies across the sector. Boeing has prioritized stabilizing 737 MAX output at 47 aircraft per month before pursuing further increases, citing propulsion systems as a key gating factor. RTX Corporation's Pratt & Whitney Canada secured a roughly $1 billion, nine-year overhaul contract for PT6A-68 engines supporting the JPATS T-6 trainer program. GE Aerospace raised its 2026 EPS guidance to $7.65–$7.85 and forecast free cash flow of $8.9 billion to $9.2 billion, while its CEO stated that GEnx engine availability will not be a bottleneck for Boeing's 787 production ramp. CFM International, the GE Aerospace and Safran joint venture, outlined plans to increase engine deliveries by approximately 15% to align with Boeing and Airbus production schedules.
