Sono-Tek shares rise on record $3.6 million production line order

Sono-Tek shares gained about 6.4% in pre-market trading Tuesday after the company received a purchase order worth more than $3.6 million for an advanced integrated production line used to manufacture medical diagnostic devices. The new system will combine Sono-Tek's ultrasonic coating technology with complementary processing capabilities and advanced automation to support higher-volume production, and is expected to ship during fiscal 2028. President and CEO Steve Harshbarger called the order a record for a single integrated production line and an important milestone, noting the customer is moving from earlier coating platforms to a substantially larger and more sophisticated automated manufacturing line designed for high-volume production.

Sono-Tek beats Q1 estimates with GAAP EPS of $0.05 and revenue of $5.66 million

Sono-Tek reported first-quarter fiscal 2027 results that exceeded analyst expectations. GAAP earnings per share came in at $0.05, beating estimates by $0.01, while revenue reached $5.66 million, surpassing forecasts by $0.04 million and marking a 10% increase from the prior-year period. The revenue growth was driven by strong demand in the medical sector, though it was partially offset by lower alternative energy shipments. The company's combined equipment and service-related backlog stood at $7.73 million as of May 31, 2026, up 3% from $7.48 million a year earlier but down from $9.12 million at the end of fiscal 2026. Looking ahead, Sono-Tek expects continued revenue growth and profitability in the first half of fiscal 2027 compared to the same period last year, while full-year revenue is projected to be relatively flat to modestly higher due to limited visibility beyond the first half and ongoing uncertainty in certain clean energy sectors.
