Valereum signs African digital asset partnership with Kenya's BDAL
Valereum PLC has signed a strategic partnership with Kenya's Blockchain Digital Assets Limited, known as BDAL or Koinon, to expand its digital asset business across Africa and the Indian Ocean. The joint venture will initially focus on three areas: tokenisation of real-world assets such as land and minerals including gold, platinum and lithium using the VLRM Markets platform; digital payments through the Koinon mobile app integrated with Valereum's white label payment platforms; and digital banking combining advisory expertise with regulated infrastructure. BDAL founder Matthew Mecke cited three decades of regional relationships and predicted significant adoption of digital banking in Africa, while Valereum group CEO Gary Cottle described the deal as an obvious geographical and product extension of its business model.
