Pathward Financial Touted as Top Bank Stock Pick, WesBanco and First Busey Flagged as Sells

StockStory identifies Pathward Financial as a bank stock worth buying, while recommending investors avoid WesBanco and First Busey. Pathward, with a market cap of $1.75 billion, boasts a best-in-class net interest margin of 7.2% and 13.2% annual net interest income growth over five years, supported by share buybacks that boosted earnings per share. In contrast, WesBanco and First Busey each have a net interest margin of just 3.4%, among the worst in the sector, and face challenges such as flat or declining tangible book value per share and low returns on equity. WesBanco trades at 1x forward price-to-book, while First Busey trades at 1.1x forward price-to-book.
