Lucid Group IncBolt partnership targets deployment of at least 25,000 self-driving Lucid EVs across Europe, a concrete order/end-demand event for Lucid vehicles.
Lucid Group shares climbed about 8% Thursday after the electric-vehicle maker entered a partnership with Bolt targeting autonomous ride services across Europe. Under the agreement, Bolt aims to deploy at least 25,000 self-driving Lucid vehicles across major European cities, with Bolt planning to own and operate the fleet; the companies did not provide a rollout schedule or investment amount. The vehicles are expected to use Lucid's upcoming Midsize platform and Nvidia's Hyperion system, a technology platform designed for autonomous driving, with production planned at Lucid's new Saudi Arabian facility, which is expected to begin operations early next year. The deal comes as Lucid works through continued financial pressure: in the second quarter, revenue was $405.35 million, below the $422.32 million consensus estimate, while the company posted an adjusted loss of $2.78 per share versus expectations for a $2.36 loss. Lucid shares ended Wednesday at $4.04 after falling 1.94% during the session and remain down about 35% over the past month.
