AeroVironment IncItaly's military designation and contract for JUMP 20 drones confirm official adoption and replacement of legacy ISR fleet, driving product demand.

AeroVironment has received an MQ-31A military designation from Italy's Directorate of Aeronautical Armaments and Airworthiness for its JUMP 20 unmanned aircraft system, confirming the platform as an official military capability for the Italian Army. The designation follows a contract awarded in April 2025 to deliver JUMP 20 vertical takeoff and landing aircraft systems, replacing Italy's legacy unmanned ISR fleet. The JUMP 20 was selected through a competitive procurement process and is also used by other NATO forces including Denmark, Lithuania, and the Czech Republic. The system offers more than 13 hours of endurance, an operational range of 185 kilometers, and a 30-pound modular payload capacity with over 70 integrated payloads.
