AeroVironment reported record second-quarter revenue of $480.5 million, up 5.7% year-over-year and beating analyst estimates of $457.6 million by 5%, sending shares up 10.4% in the afternoon session. The $7.10 billion defense contractor posted adjusted EBITDA of $53.4 million, an 11.1% margin that crushed estimates by nearly 37%, while GAAP operating margins improved to -2.3% from -15.2% a year ago. Adjusted earnings came in at $0.59 per share, massively outperforming the $0.25 consensus, and free cash flow improved to negative $35.95 million from negative $146.5 million in the prior-year period. Bookings of $0.7 billion produced a book-to-bill ratio of 1.4 and expanded funded backlog to a record $1.5 billion, a 37% increase from a year earlier. Management reiterated full-year guidance for revenue of $2.18 billion and adjusted EPS of $3.18 at the respective midpoints, though the full-year EBITDA guidance midpoint of $315 million landed slightly below the $318.2 million consensus.
