Salesforce.com IncAI chatbots threaten to replace Salesforce's SaaS products, reducing demand for its offerings.
Bianco Research president Jim Bianco warned that AI adoption poses an existential threat to software-as-a-service giants like Salesforce and Microsoft, likening the shift to how the iPhone consolidated multiple standalone devices into one product. He argued that as AI chatbots become capable of handling tasks currently performed by products such as Office, Windows, and Salesforce, users will no longer need to purchase those individual SaaS offerings. The money spent on AI will effectively replace the money previously spent on those software platforms, creating a direct competitive dynamic. Bianco framed the market outlook as a bifurcation: if AI succeeds, traditional SaaS will struggle, and vice versa.
