U.S. GoldMining Inc. announced that the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority (AIDEA) has authorized up to $25 million to fund geotechnical drilling and associated permitting, hydrologic, and engineering work for the State-led West Susitna Access Project (WSAP), a road initiative designed to connect the Whistler Gold-Copper Project with existing infrastructure near Anchorage. The WSAP comprises a 22-mile public road led by the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities and a 78.5-mile public-private road led by AIDEA, terminating at the Company's exploration camp near the Whistler deposit. The authorized program will provide data needed for final design, including bridge foundations, material sites, culvert sizing, and road alignment over the 2026 and 2027 field seasons. U.S. GoldMining CEO Tim Smith commended the state's commitment, noting the funding marks a significant step toward linking Whistler and the broader West Susitna Mineral District to the Anchorage transportation and energy grid. The Whistler Project's preliminary economic assessment outlines an after-tax net present value of $2.0 billion at a 5% discount rate, a 33% internal rate of return, and an initial payback of 2.1 years.
