Summary · why it matters

Amazon and Alphabet are on pace to deploy close to $400 billion in AI infrastructure this year, with both cloud arms accelerating in Q2 FY2026. AWS posted $42.23B in revenue, up 37% year over year, its fastest growth in 18 quarters, with operating margin at 39.4% and backlog of $496 billion, while Google Cloud jumped 82% to $24.77B with a $460B backlog. Amazon guided 2026 capex to roughly $200B and Alphabet to $175B-$185B, and Alphabet's long-term debt rose from $46.5B to $98.2B with buybacks suspended in Q2. CEO Andy Jassy said data-center servers take a little less than three years to break even, meaning much of the 2026 buildout monetizes into 2028 and beyond, and consensus fiscal 2027 EPS sits at $10.47 for Amazon on about $947B in revenue and $14.86 for Alphabet on about $612B. Alphabet trades at a forward P/E of 23 with a $428.16 analyst target, while Amazon carries negative $7.6B in trailing free cash flow and shares are up just 9.72% over the past year versus 39.05% for Alphabet.

Kuehne+Nagel Signs Long-Term Deal to Lead Amazon Data Center Logistics

Kuehne+Nagel has signed a long-term contract cementing its existing collaboration with Amazon to provide supply chain services for the cloud computing giant's massive buildout of data centers and other infrastructure needs. The Switzerland-based logistics company said Monday that the deal covers logistics services for any part of Amazon's business, with the primary focus on supporting Amazon Web Services. Kuehne+Nagel has worked with Amazon for at least two years, moving large amounts of servers and other cargo by air for data center construction and operations, and under the contract it will expand management of Amazon's logistics and supply chain services beyond air to ocean, road and contract logistics, transporting equipment for the entire infrastructure lifecycle from maintenance to upgrades and expansion projects worldwide. The deal grants Amazon the option to purchase Kuehne+Nagel's existing shares based on reaching certain commercial milestones, with the call option lasting seven years and settleable in cash or shares. Kuehne+Nagel executives have previously said their contract logistics contracts typically last for seven to 10 years, and CEO Stefan Paul said on the company's July 23 earnings call that the world's largest air freight forwarder saw strong demand from hyperscalers during the second quarter, especially on the trans-Pacific lane from China to the United States, and now runs 3.3 million square feet of warehouse space devoted to hyperscalers.

Credo Launches 1.6T ZeroFlap Optical Transceivers, Testing $600 Million Fiscal 2027 Optical Target

Credo Technology Group Holding Ltd launched a new family of 224G-based ZeroFlap optical transceivers, extending its optical architecture to 1.6T port speeds. The new transceivers combine Credo's 224G-per-lane optical digital signal processor with the Kfir200 silicon photonics PIC and its latest-generation PILOT diagnostics platform, and the family includes 2xDR4, 2xFR4 and DR8 configurations supporting AI scale-out interconnect architectures at 1.6T port speeds. The launch matters because management expects more than $600 million in optical revenues in fiscal 2027, with ZeroFlap optics, silicon photonics PICs and optical DSPs each expected to contribute more than $100 million. Credo's May acquisition of DustPhotonics brought silicon photonics capabilities in-house, and the company recorded its first silicon photonics revenues in the fiscal first quarter while its optical digital signal processor business generated record revenues during the period. Management expects additional fiscal 2027 customer ramps across both 800G and 1.6T products involving hyperscalers and NeoCloud operators, as well as its first 1.6T optical DSP revenues later in fiscal 2027, though GAAP research and development expense rose 118% year over year to $114.5 million in the fiscal first quarter and results remain sensitive to deployment timing.
