The American Kidney Fund has launched new resources to help kidney transplant patients navigate evaluation, surgery, and recovery. The materials include a downloadable post-transplant guide called Your Guide to Life After Transplant, available in English and Spanish, and an interactive e-learning course titled Step Forward: The Road to Kidney Transplant and Beyond. AKF President and CEO LaVarne A. Burton noted that more than 100,000 Americans are on the organ transplant waiting list, with almost 90% waiting for a kidney. The new guide is a companion to AKF's pre-transplant guide, which was sent to 15,660 financial assistance recipients and resulted in 957 patients receiving transplants.
