Apple Inc.Apple launched its first foldable iPhone Duo, projected to take 24.8% of the 2026 foldable market with ~5 million units.
Apple has launched its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, and TrendForce estimates shipments of approximately 5 million units in 2026, giving Apple a 24.8% share of the foldable smartphone market and making it the second-largest brand behind Samsung. TrendForce forecasts global foldable smartphone shipments of approximately 20.2 million units in 2026, up just 0.5% YoY, with Android brands excluding Apple expected to ship only around 15.2 million units, down more than 20% YoY. Samsung is projected to ship approximately 7.1 million units for a 35.1% market share, while Huawei is expected to ship around 5 million units for a 24.8% share. The book-style inward-folding iPhone Duo has a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch cover display, weighs around 254g, and measures approximately 5.2 mm unfolded and 11.3 mm folded, with a 10-layer ultra-thin inner display stack, a Grade 5 titanium frame and hinge cover, a 48 MP main camera providing 2x optical-quality zoom, and a side-mounted Touch ID sensor replacing Face ID. TrendForce views 2026 as a year of structural realignment for the foldable market, with iPhone Duo demand primarily offsetting declines among existing brands, while Apple's requirements for displays, UTG, hinges, and device architecture could accelerate supply chain technology maturation and prompt Samsung and Chinese brands to reassess their foldable strategies.
