Apple Inc.Apple is set to unveil its first foldable iPhone, a major product launch.
Apple is set to unveil its first foldable iPhone at its "Surprise and Shine" event on September 9, 2026, entering a market already crowded with rivals like Huawei and Xiaomi. Bank of America analyst Wamsi Mohan reiterated a Buy rating with a $380 price target, expecting three new phones: the iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max, and the foldable, possibly branded as Ultra or Fold. The foldable is expected to feature a book-style design with dual OLED displays, an A20 Pro chip, 12GB RAM, and up to 2TB storage. IDC's Nabila Popal predicts the device, priced at $2,500, will generate over $45 billion in revenue by next year despite foldables being a small market segment. Apple faces stiff competition, as Huawei controlled nearly 68% of China's foldable market in Q2 2026, and Xiaomi has launched its own premium foldable, the Xiaomi 18 Fold. Hedge fund interest remains stable, with 169 funds holding Apple stock at the end of Q2, and Berkshire Hathaway as the largest shareholder with 227.9 million shares.
