Applied Materials IncAI-driven demand for semiconductor equipment drove revenue beat and raised guidance.

Applied Materials reported better-than-expected second-quarter results, with revenue up 24.8% year over year to $9.12 billion and non-GAAP earnings per share of $3.50, beating analyst estimates. The company also issued strong guidance for the next quarter, projecting revenue of $10.25 billion at the midpoint, which is 6.1% above analyst expectations. Management attributed the outperformance to robust demand for semiconductor manufacturing equipment, particularly in leading-edge logic and DRAM for AI infrastructure, as well as strength in advanced packaging and services. CEO Gary Dickerson highlighted that customers have found new ways to address clean room space constraints and significantly increase their demand for tool deliveries. Despite the positive results, the stock traded down from $540.01 before earnings to $507.81, reflecting a cautious market reaction.
