ArcelorMittal has announced a collaboration with Amazon Web Services to accelerate industrial automation across its global operations using cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and edge technologies. The steelmaker will integrate AWS cloud and AI capabilities into its manufacturing processes to improve safety, asset reliability, and energy efficiency, deploying AI-driven applications such as predictive maintenance, quality control, process optimization, and digital twins. As part of the multi-year agreement, Amazon will source lower-carbon XCarb steel from ArcelorMittal for its facilities and AWS data centers across Europe and the U.K., supporting Amazon's goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. AWS will also provide training programs to strengthen digital and AI skills across ArcelorMittal's workforce. The collaboration aims to transform steelmaking by enabling plants to sense, learn, and optimize operations in real time, resulting in safer workplaces, more reliable output, and more sustainable operations.
